My Birthday Musings

     Today is my birthday.  I don't know why I should celebrate.  After all, I didn't have anything to do with being born.  Probably we should honor my parents since they are to ones who gave me life here on this earth. And their training in my early life made me into the man I am today.  Of course I made a lot of choices along the way too, some good, a lot bad.  But it was the early education from my parents that held me back from a lot of terrible "cliffs" and brought me to where I am today.
     And my wife - she has been a gift from God to bring me to a much closer walk with our Savior.  To be the kind of man - husband - that I should, the responsibility rests on me to be what I should be.  Responsibility, this is a good thing.  There is way to little of it accepted by people today.  Too often we just think of what we get from a marriage, but it is what we give that makes a beautiful marriage.  To be the head of our home means to follow the example of the true Head of all - Jesus.  This is the blessing my dear Rose has been to me.
     Then there is the main One we should honor - my Heavenly Father.  In the far distant eons of the past, when human beings were just an idea in the mind of the Triune God, and the plan of salvation was laid for the contingency of sin; then it was that God thought of me and the part He wanted me to fill.  "Each has his place in the eternal plan of heaven.... Not more surely is the place prepared for us in the heavenly mansions than is the special place designated on earth where we are to work for God."

     What a glorious thought!  What an honor God has placed on each one of us.  I am thankful for the years God has given me.  Thankful for the responsibility He has given me to preach His Word.  Thankful to be a Sower of the Good Seed of Heaven.  In thankfulness to the God who loved me so much that He gave His infinite life for me, I pledge on this day to live the remainder of my life for Him.  Each day He gives me I will live it for Him.  I will spread the good news that Jesus is coming again!  Get ready, get ready, and be ready!  For in such an hour that you think not, the Son of Man Comes.
